Reflections: Insights on Genesis 2:1-4

These short but sweet verses mark the completion of God’s work of creation. We can focus on a couple key points from these brief verses.

1. Once all the work is completed, there is rest.

In the hustle and bustle of day to day life, it is easy to get caught up in the busy, the distractions, the work. But times of rest are important in order to recharge physically, mentally, and most importantly, spiritually.

2. God is the origin of life.

God is the Creator of all things. Everything we can see, touch, feel, all of it originates from God. Everything was created with care, intention, purpose, and love. Thus, there is inherent beauty and value within creation, especially within all of us. Even within the vast creation God has made, we can learn various important lessons, many of which are recorded within God’s very Word. As we strive to understand our place in the world and our relationship with the divine Creator, we can look to creation as a source of inspiration and wisdom.
